Free Yourself: 4 Ways To Transition Into Your Fall Self-Care Routine

Free Yourself: 4 Ways To Transition Into Your Fall Self-Care Routine

By Shaquana Rodd

It’s that time of year again when pumpkin spice has begun to surface in your favorite retail locations and the days are growing shorter. Summer was a blast, but Fall is creeping around the corner and what better way to usher in the change in seasons than to harvest in new self-care practices. I don’t know about you all but there’s something about the cooler months that bring on a tendency of hibernation. Now truthfully, it’s still warm here in the South but some locations throughout the nation are beginning to experience cooler temperatures. Maybe we’ll be inside more, soon enough, but that won’t stop our self-care routine. This is a lifestyle! Rather you’re low or high maintenance, these self-care tips are exactly what you need to cater to your needs from the inside out because when you look good, you feel even better!

1. Move Yourself

Movement Meditation is the name of the game here. You don’t want to sit still and become stagnant so why not get up, stretch, and get a move on things. Implementing at least 30 minutes of movement into your daily routine is a great way to maintain a healthy physical and mental wellbeing. Taking a morning jog or attending a dance class is a fun way to keep your body moving and in shape. Movement meditation isn’t limited to physical activity, stimulating your brain through puzzling is also an amazing way to refine your focus, attention to detail, and improve your mental agility. The larger the puzzle, the greater the challenge. Choosing a puzzle with more pieces gives you the opportunity to exercise and strengthen your problem-solving skills in a creative way. Over at RVL Wellness, you can shop our newest collection of puzzles personally designed by our favorite artists made especially for you! We have puzzles ranging from 48 pc sets to 500 pc masterpieces. With puzzles so vibrant and beautiful, your hardest decision will be choosing.

2. Adorn Yourself

We said it before, but we’ll say it again, “when you look good, you feel even better” and that isn’t an understatement. Taking the extra time to be mindful of how you present yourself to the world is one of the most crucial aspects of first impressions. I know sometimes we just need to run a quick errand to the store but taking a few extra minutes to adorn ourselves gives us the confidence to walk with our heads held high. Walk out into the world like you’re going to meet your husband if you aren’t already married. Pull your hair back into a bun, put on some cute earrings, and dress the part. You can be comfy and confident but please no sweats! Adorning yourself with perfumes and applying the perfect face of makeup is enough to enhance your natural born beauty. While making a good impression is great, looking good for yourself should be the ultimate motivation before walking out of the house every day. Sometimes life can become mundane and repetitive, especially if you work remotely, but being able to love the person you see in the mirror is the true test of self-love.

3. Feed Yourself

A recent study has shown that people consume more calories in the Fall than any other season. But why? Could cooler temperatures, the change in environmental aesthetics, or recreational circumstances be the reason? Cool temperatures usually mean hearty bowls of chili and Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. Even if you find yourself home more due to the elements, I challenge you to change your mindset when it comes to food especially if you are intentional about maintaining a healthy weight and physique. Because of the seasonal changes you may tend to eat different types of foods, managing your portions is key. Some foods popularly eaten in the Fall are sweet potatoes, beets, pumpkins, okra, and pears just to name a few. Eating with the season is a great way to change up your palate and motivation to implement new meals and recipes for yourself. Sometimes it’s hard not to indulge, especially with football and the holidays quickly approaching, but try not to get too carried away if you can help it. Just remember as sure as the sky is blue, Spring will soon return, and we all want to look presentable in those colorful yet form fitting clothes.

4. Introduce Yourself

Introduce yourself to something new, different, and fun. Just because we’re adults with more responsibilities doesn’t mean we don’t deserve to enjoy life. Setting time aside just for yourself is needed to restore and recharge your mental, physical, and emotional batteries. Finding a new interest doesn’t have to be meaningful, especially if you are looking for an escape from life’s stress and pressure. Introducing yourself to a winery tour, scenic train ride, or sports tailgating events are great ways to meet new people and explore what your city has to offer. On the other hand, if you’re more of a homebody, try de-stressing by setting a new fall décor in your home, creating backyard bonfires by the moonlight, or having a family movie night at home. The idea is to create a safe haven for yourself, to experience happiness outside all of the hats we wear and juggle constantly. We all deserve to experience that special kind of joy.

Happiness looks and feels different for everyone. We all internalize what that means to us on an individual basis. The desires of your heart are genuinely unique to you as a person and that is what makes us all interesting and special. In life sometimes we can become so consumed by all the external noise that we become tone deaf to our own needs. We forget what that little voice in our heads sounds like and have difficulty finding or trusting it. Finding stillness and refuge is necessary in this chaotic world. We hope that you find peace, solace, and freedom in this life’s journey. And when presented, choose to live and not just exist, thrive and not just survive. We hope that every single time you’re faced with a decision, you choose You! We love you for real, from RVL Wellness.
